Ngchesar road project underway

The main road paving project is funded by the government of Taiwan and contracted out to Hanpa Construction Company.

The amount of the project is $180,000.The road is 120 feet, 20 feet wide, concrete road inch think reinforced pavement in contintuation of the road paving project for Fiscal Year 2007.The road project, which is called the Ngchesar State Economic Stimulus package entails construction of 1,000 linear feet of protectective rip-rap wall on the east side of the Ngchesar State Elementary School.The project is 8 feet wide concrete apron, 6 sets light posts/fixtures, four sets of water service faucet and 12 each concrete benches. It also comprises of access stairs to the seawater will be provided along the length of the rip-rap wall.President Remengesau delivered a special remarks, saying that the players change, the leaders change, but the priorities of the state do not change. He said that Ngchesar’s economic development relies on the completion of the road project.He added that there will also be a construction of a boat ramp at the North end of the rip-rap wall near the old causeway.Ngchesar Delegate Sabino Anastacio, meanwhile thanked the government of Taiwan for all its support and funding for the development of Ngchesar State.Anastacio also thanked the elected leaders who have helped in the project.Taiwan Ambassador Maggie Tien also gave special remarks, saying that in the two short months that she has been at her post, it has been her luck and pleasure to witness the cooperation between Taiwan and Palau and see how this cooperation benefitted the states.Tien assured Palau of further cooperation in many areas in the future.
