Brel was inaugurated on July 31 following the ceremonial feast being held to Akemi Delbirt as a new Rimuu, the female counterpart of Adelbaii er Kosoal.
During the ceremony a total of $13,000, one chelbucheb and 12 toluk were contributed for his customary celebration.
The people of Ngerkesoaol hamlet were indeed pleased to have new chief since the seat had been vacant for some 16 months since the passing away of former chief Jones Ngoriakl.
Brel said that as a new Adelbai his vision to his hamlet is “to see change as an opportunity to build new bridges, invest in lasting mutual relations and mend old wounds in order for true healing and positive change to take effect-that is within each individual residing or related in some way to Ngerkesoaol. Thus, eventually we may sail towards brighter horizons as a productive and unified component of our island of Koror, contributing as a community to our state and in turn our nation of Palau.”
Brel is a retired employee of Palau Public Utilities Corporation.
