ACCT is a non-profit educational organization of governing boards, representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern over 1,200 community, technical and junior colleges.

Cepeda was elected to the position after being nominated by ACCT board member Judy Chen Haggerty.

“Charles represents Asian-Pacific Islanders well and makes us proud,” Haggerty said. “I am so glad to have the opportunity to connect with Charles and his team.”

The nominating committee nominates a director for each of the  ACCT regions. Cepeda will serve a two-year term on the western region nominating committee.

“I am so delighted and honored to have Charles on board,” ACCT Pacific Regional Chair Gilbert Wong said.

Cepeda was also selected to be a state coordinator for the CNMI, which is part of the Western region of the ACCT. The Western region encompasses Alaska, Yukon Territory, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Palau, Hawaii, Marshall Islands, and American Samoa.

“I am thankful for my fellow regional ACCT members for electing me to this position, and I’d like to thank ACCT President Jee Hang Lee for confirming me to the state coordinator position,” Cepeda said. “This opportunity will allow NMC and the board to network at a national level so we can gain a broader understanding of higher education issues and work more collaboratively with other institutions from other parts of the U.S.”

The ACCT coordinators network plays a pivotal role in the effective operation of the association by linking the board of directors and staff with the membership. The goals of the ACCT coordinator network are to be a communications link between the regional chairs and member boards, to help retain and solicit members, and to provide regional input into association products, services and activities.
