NMC graduate passes NCLEX-RN

LEUGIM Lance Elayda, who graduated from Northern Marianas College in 2022, has passed the National Council Licensure Examination for registered nurses.

“It was definitely a long road that had its fair share of obstacles, but I could not have made it through without the help and support of my family,” he said. “I want to thank my family who has been very patient and supportive of my future. They have sacrificed a lot…. I am really happy it has paid off,” Elayda added.

He also expressed his gratitude to his coworkers at the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. where he is a graduate nurse.

“They have been amazing teachers, passing on their knowledge and even taking time off of their busy lives in order to help me develop better study habits,” Elayda said.

He is especially thankful to registered nurses Zoe Stephanson and Ernie Molina.

“They kept pushing me to work harder than I thought possible,” Elayda said.

He likewise expressed his gratitude to Johnny Aldan and Rosa T. Aldan  who were his  “stellar instructors” at NMC.

He said his other instructors, Annie Camacho, a certified registered nurse anesthetist, and Breanna Lee, RN also contributed to his success.

“Nursing is very broad and there are so many cases and skills to go through, but they knew how to deliver these subjects in a way that made us want to learn more,” he said, referring to his instructors.

Meantime, Elayda said he would “like to give myself some time to rest. Balancing time to study and work became a routine at some point, which obviously has helped in the long run, but it’s good to take a quick break every now and then. Afterwards, I would like to take this accomplishment and apply it to the field. I have spent some time working as a graduate nurse, and I am now looking forward to practicing as a registered nurse. Of course, it does not end there.”

Elayda is also a dancer and has performed at various island events including those hosted by the Marianas Visitors Authority for tourists at the Paseo de Marianas.
