(NMHC) — The Northern Marianas Housing Corporation will be sending Kimo M. Rosario, Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery or CDBG-DR program manager, to Tinian on Friday, April 9, 2021, to provide Tinian residents with a brief overview and description of NMHC’s CDBG-DR grant and programs as well take and respond to questions.
The CDBG-DR grant created and supports the following programs:
• Housing (Reconstruction/Rehabilitation, Single-family New Construction Development, and Affordable Rental Housing Development);
• Public Infrastructure (FEMA Local Match and Repair and Resiliency); and
• Economic Revitalization (Tourism Marketing and Promotions and Workforce Development)
The scheduled event will be held at the Tinian Public Library and will start at 2 p.m., April 9, 2021.
“Shortly following the signing of the CDBG-DR grant agreement, the Tinian Legislative Delegation along with our Tinian NMHC Board member, Mr. Eric Reyes, have been requesting NMHC to conduct outreach and public awareness activities on the island of Tinian. Similarly, the NMHC-CDBG-DR key management staff have been closely working with HUD and the NMHC Board of Directors in meeting post-grant agreement HUD requirements, e.g., policies and procedures, that are needed for full implementation of programs. With all these requirements on their final stages and in place, programs are finally rolling out. Now, the CDBG-DR team can engage in active citizen participation through outreach and public awareness activities. NMHC wants to thank the entire CNMI community, including Tinian residents, for their continued interest in the CDBG-DR programs and their patience,” Rosario said.
