(CHCC) — The Governor’s Covid-19 Task Force and the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. have confirmed the CNMI’s 19th Covid-19-related death.
Forty-three individuals had also been confirmed positive for Covid-19 on Jan. 6, 2022, bringing the CNMI total to 3,561 cases since March 28, 2020. The individuals have been isolated and are actively monitored.
Two individuals have been confirmed positive for Covid-19 on Rota on Jan. 7, 2022. The cases were identified at the Rota Health Center. A total of 4 close contacts were identified and tested negative. Contact tracing will continue until all probable cases are identified and tested.
As of Jan. 7, 2022, there had been 2,763 recoveries made, 492 active cases, and 19 deaths since March 2020.
As of Jan. 7, 2022, there were 11 individuals hospitalized as a result of Covid-19 (7 unvaccinated, 4 vaccinated; 2 on a ventilator).
Of the 43 new cases, 13 were identified via contact tracing, 22 were identified via community testing, and 8 were identified via travel testing.
The vaccination statuses of the 43 cases identified are pending verification.
A total of 286 Covid-19 vaccine shots were administered on Jan. 7, 2022, resulting in 96.3% of the CNMI’s eligible population being fully vaccinated, which affords the community more protection against severe illness, hospitalization, and death.
Since Oct. 28, 2021, there have been 3,270 new cases, of which 1,589 were identified via contact tracing, 1,580 were identified via community testing, and 101 were identified via travel testing.
A total of 473 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Jan. 6, 2022, which comprises travel and surveillance testing but does not include DFEMS testing.
