THE Office of the Governor on Sunday shot down a rumor circulating on social media that the Federal Bureau of Investigation recently “visited” the CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
“This is completely false,” the governor’s office said. “The CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management has not been visited by anyone from the FBI as claimed in the social media post rumors.”
According to the rumor, there is a connection between this alleged FBI visit and HSEM special assistant Gerald Deleon Guerrero stepping down from his post.
“Mr. Gerald Deleon Guerrero is stepping down as the CNMI HSEM special assistant because of personal reasons, specifically health matters. He will still be working at HSEM in a different capacity,” the governor’s office said.
Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services commissioner Dennis Mendiola is stepping down from his role to assume a new role as CNMI HSEM special assistant, succeeding Deleon Guerrero.
Fire Chief Jessie Mesa will be the acting DFEMS commissioner until the governor makes an appointment.
The governor’s office did not say what new role Deleon Guerrero will be assuming at HSEM.
