Norvert Yano is the new BPS Director

President Remengesau in his appointment of Yano said that the director’s record made him suitable for the job.“Based upon your record and upon the recommendation of Vice President and Justice Minister Elias Camsek Chin, I have determined that you are the right person to lead the fine men and women of our Bureau of Public Safety,” the president said.Chin in an interview said that Yano, compared to the other aspirants for the position is the most qualified based on education and experience.“I am very pleased that the president appointed Yano to the position. Yano has done so much as a deputy director and because of his accomplishment, he is the right person for the job,” Chin said.Chin said that  Yano has the “commitment , dedication,” making him a good leader.Chin said he hired Yano to the BPS when he served as justice minister during former president Kuniwo Nakamura’s administration.Chin said Yano worked for Palau’s police force after retiring from the military.The president for his part said that for many years, Yano has served the nation honorably and effectively as the deputy director.“In this position, you have shown an unwavering commitment to the safety of the Palauan people,” Remengesau said.“Therefore in accordance with the appointment authority vested in me under 34 PNC 5021 (a), I hereby appoint you as Director of the Bureau of Public Safety. I wish you the best of luck, and offer you my full support in this critical position,” the president said.The BPS Director position was left vacant after Telei passed away.
