Off-island voting for general election is tomorrow

The Palau Elections Commission has designated off-island polling places in the three areas.

The polling place in Guam will be at the Astumbo Senior Citizen Center in Dededo, and at the Marianas High School in Saipan while in Hawaii the polling place will be at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu.Baudista Rengulbai, Election Commission administrator said that there are 1,725 ballots sent in Guam, 600 in CNMI and 400 in Hawaii.The time of the voting will be from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.Voters in the US mainland and other countries should request an absentee ballot from the Election Commission by October 28, and it should be received by the commission by November 11.Rengulbai said that there were 700 absentee ballots requested via email. The commission also printed 17,000 ballots for the election.Here in Palau, there are 15 proper polling places and 12 central polling places.The proper polling places are the polling centers designated in each state for the hamlets. There are eight hamlets in Koror.The central polling places are the polling areas designated in Koror for those who cannot cast their votes in their respective states.On Nov. 4, voters will be electing a new President and Vice President as well as 13- member of the Senate.Lawyer Johnson Toribiong and Delegate Kerai Mariur would face the tandem Vice President Elias Camsek Chin and Senate Floor Leader Alan Seid.There are a total of 43 candidates for the Senate, which include outgoing President Tommy Remengesau Jr.There are also 43 candidates vying for the 16-member House of Delegates seat.The voters will also ratify the 22- proposed constitutional amendments.Polling places here in Palau will be opened from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
