“IN an abundance of caution, the [Office of the Attorney General’s criminal division] will be closed today,” chief prosecutor Chester Hinds said Friday.
“Right now, all we know is that an employee is a parent of a close contact,” Hinds added.
The staffer was in quarantine and awaiting test results, Variety learned.
Hinds said all hearings set for Friday were postponed, adding that he was “unsure as to what will happen [this] week.”
Hearings for criminal cases set for Friday were vacated by the Superior Court, but civil cases continued to be heard and the clerk of court was still open for business.
Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, in consultation with the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. and the CNMI Covid-19 Task Force, issued a memorandum early Friday morning to announce the closure of all public and private schools and colleges in the Commonwealth for the next 10 days “to mitigate against community spread as contact tracing continues to be conducted by CHCC and the task force.”
