The Best of the Marianas is a program facilitated by Marianas Variety in partnership with the Marianas Visitors Authority that aims to promote local businesses and “hot spots” in the CNMI.
As of Tuesday, Jan. 31, Variety had collected 3,700 ballots online and offline.
382 businesses and places were nominated in 108 categories including best restaurant, best laundry, best fried chicken, best french fries, and best sunset view, among others.
Variety has counted a total of 62,000 votes for all categories and the number is expected to increase in the next two weeks or up to Feb. 15, 2023, which is the last day to vote.
In an interview, Best of the Marianas project head Hazel Nichole Sadian expressed her gratitude to the community members for their participation.
“We appreciate everyone who has supported and voted for the Best of the Marianas thus far. This program is really a labor of love on the part of our team. It’s a way for us to encourage healthy competition between different stakeholders in the CNMI,” she said.
She is encouraging community members who have not voted to participate and get a chance to win $100 every week until Feb. 9, 2023.
The raffle drawing for the grand prize, which is a staycation package on Tinian, Saipan or Rota, will be held on Feb. 20.
