GOVERNOR Arnold I. Palacios said “quite a few” government board and commission members have resigned, but “there are a lot of holdouts.”
On Jan. 19, 2023, he asked all members of government boards and commissions appointed by his predecessor to turn in their courtesy resignations.
At a press conference on Feb. 1, 2023, the governor said: “I don’t want to go to each board and commission but they [the ‘holdouts’] believe they can serve under this administration…so…we will deal with that next week.”
Palacios said he and Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang “are putting together some reappointments or new appointees to these boards and commissions.”
Government boards and commissions are autonomous entities whose members serve a fixed term and can only be removed for a cause.
