OVER 100 children enjoyed various games and other outdoor activities during the Division of Youth Services’ second Family Fun Night at San Vicente Central Park on Friday.
The event was conducted by the DYS Parent Leadership Committee as part of the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Awareness Month activities, DYS Director Vivian Sablan said.
The first fun night was held at Kagman Community Center earlier this month in partnership with the Youth Affairs Office.
On Friday at San Vicente Central Park, the participating children and their parents checked out the different activity tables and received raffle coupons.
The activities included outdoor games such as balloon toss as well as family book reading, trivia, and health screenings.
Refreshments were made available to everyone and the children also had the opportunity to enjoy the newly installed playground facilities at the park.
The participating groups included the DYS Juvenile Probation Unit, the Family and Youth Enhancement Program, Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. and the Northern Marianas College Nursing Program.
The guest performers were members of the Marianas High School Glee Club.
Sablan said DYS will continue its partnership with other government agencies in bringing more family activities to the villages.
Sablan also applauded “the hardworking parent leaders for their time and commitment in making these events happen.”
DYS is inviting members of the community to its culminating activity on May 8, the Big Truck event which will feature bucket trucks, fire engines and heavy equipment.
