Palau delegation off to Beijing Olympics

Palau National Olympics Committee (PNOC) President Frank Kyota during President Remengesau’s weekly press conference gave an overview of the upcoming trip to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

The delegation will include five athletes who will be participating in swimming, wrestling and sprint.

One athlete will represent Palau in the swimming competition, two in wrestling and two in sprint.

The rest of the delegation includes coaches, PNOC officials and two kids participating in the Olympic camp.

The delegation is scheduled to fly to Beijing on July 29 and will be back in Palau on August 27.

Kyota in the press conference, thanked the parents supporting the kids in the Olympics as well as the coaches and the government.

PNOC Secretariat Baklai Temengil, during the press conference also presented President Remengesau with samples of Team Palau’s uniforms and other apparel for the Games.

Remengesau said that Palau is proud to say that it will be represented in the Olympics as he wished the athletes the best of luck in the competition.
