Toribiong said that the date of the arrival is not clear however. He is expect that a date will be known after Oct. 12.
He said since “only six has accepted so far, the preparation is for six Uighurs.”He said though that the resettlement could occur by the end of the year.The president said that there are 13 Uighurs left at the Guantanamo detention facility.He said that the resettlement is “temporary.”He said that a translator belonging to the Uighur community in Australia will be arriving with the detainees. The detainees will also be going to Palau Community College for a English Language crash course.He said whether it will go up to at least eight is not definite since the Uighurs has to accept the offer of resettlement first.He said the resettlement of the detainees is a tripartite agreement, the United State government, Palau government and the Uighurs with their lawyers have to agree to the resettlement plan.In June, Toribiong said Palau will accept 17 of the Uighurs.
