Kione Isechal and Minister of Public Infrastructure, Industries and Commerce Charles Obichang are the co-chairs while Landisang Kotaro is the secretariat coordinator.
With the help of Obichang, the transition team is in direct communication with outgoing President Tommy Remengesau’s senior officials and will be working closely with the administration to ensure a smooth transition.
Finance Minister Elbuchel Sadang is the administration official working with the transition team.
“We appreciate the government’s cooperation and are excited to work with them in an amicable and open manner. I think we’re off to a good start,” President-elect Surangel Whipps Jr. said.
The transition team is made up of a number of subcommittees that will be coordinating closely with the different government agencies during the transition.
“We are living in a difficult time as we deal with the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic downturn,” Whipps said. “Thus, it’s important that the transition team work with the goal of minimal disruption in government operations and services. Another mission of the team is to pave the way in bringing our vision of ‘A kot a rechad er Belau’ to life.”
