Palau receives award for participation in Spanish Expo

According to the Ministry of State press statement, the award was given for the “Best Collective Pavilion Award of the Zaragoza Expo given by the President of the Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE) H. E. Ambassador Jean-Pierre Lafon.

“This official recognition reflects the quality of Palau’s display in the pavilion  and demonstrates the fascination with the Pacific Islands among the Spanish public. More than 9,000 individuals visited the Pavilion daily and was among the top ten displays in the Expo,” the statement said.It added that the Palauan display in the pavilion drew a great deal of attention during the duration of the Expo. The impact of the presence of the Palau was quite significant both in the media and the civil society organizations.In an official statement from the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines, the government of Spain wants to thank Palau in taking part to the exposition.State Minister Temmy Shmull noted that such participation enhanced the existing relationship with Spain it further showcased Palau’s unique culture to the world.According to the Ministry of State, Expo 2008 was in international exposition held from June 14 to Sept. 14, 2008 coordinated by the (BIE), the organization that is responsible for sanctioning World’s Fairs held in Zaragoza, Spain with the topic of “Water and sustainable development.” Zaragoza, host city for the International Exposition is the administrative and financial capital of the autonomous community of Aragon and the 5th largest Spanish city in inhabitants of 660,000.
