Palauan student gets successful training

Washington D.C. has a successful leadership training under the conference.

Desiree Seid and her fellow scholars had tackled the busy NYLC schedule with enthusiasm. Desiree engaged in the ‘If I Were President’ simulation, in which ‘he/she’ took on the role of a real-life advisor to the president in a fictional administration. In her role, Desiree also tackled a complicated foreign policy simulation involving a conflict between Russia and the United States.Desiree and her peers also participated in site discoveries at some of Washington, D.C.’s most famous and moving memorials: the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.Desiree also participated a wide menu of hour-long workshops headed by community leaders on varied themes, including: social entrepreneurship, public speaking strategies, human rights and international volunteerism.Desiree is a sophomore student at HPA and the daughter of Sen. Alan Seid bested other students vying to get in the NYLC.
