The ultrasound machine was donated by Dr. Takanori Yasunaga of Yasunaga Animal Hospital and Sadao Tamura of Medical Equipment Company from Hiroshima, Japan.
Through the efforts of Etsuko Seid, a Palau resident and animal lover, Yasunaga and Tamura learned about the need of Palau’s veterinary clinic of an ultrasound machine.
“After months of hard work, the donors were able to find a machine for Palau with instructions and operating procedures in English,” said PAWS.
“The addition of this significant imaging instrument to the clinic will allow the diagnosis of many medical conditions that are not currently possible, such as abdominal tumors, liver and kidney dysfunctions, and intestinal motility problems,” said PAWS Director Lori Colin.
PAWS is encouraging residents of Palau to bring their pets to the veterinary clinic for checkups or for spay/neuter sterilization surgeries. For information, call 488-5645.
