Police arrest fugitive woman, find drugs in infant’s sock

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A woman with a history of drug-related arrests and on the lam from authorities was discovered with methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

Officers with the Guam Police Department pulled over Breana Maria Meno Afaisen on the morning of Nov. 23 in Harmon for an expired registration tag.

Afaisen, who allegedly appeared nervous, recognized the officer from previous encounters and “openly stated that she had been staying away from the northern parts of Guam to avoid being arrested for ‘dope,’” a magistrate’s complaint stated.

She also allegedly told police that she was on probation for previous arrests and asserted that she “had no dope in her possession and that she last smoked ‘dope’ on Nov. 22, 2023, with her ‘baby daddy,’” the complaint further stated.

But during a search of the vehicle, police discovered a makeshift pipe and suspected methamphetamine concealed in an infant’s sock hidden in the housing of the vehicle’s shifter.

The officer discovered the illegal drugs, noting that the housing for the shifter appeared “misaligned and loose.”

“When asked if she knew what was in the sock, Afaisen stated that she knew that there was an ‘ice pipe’ and some ’dope,’ which she admitted to owning and hiding beneath the shifter housing. Afaisen stated that she hid the items when she noted that the police vehicle’s emergency lights had been activated, and she was being pulled over,” the complaint said.

Afaisen had three active bench warrants when police arrested her.

She was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance as a third-degree felony and operating a vehicle without a valid license.

Afaisen was committed to the Department of Corrections with bail set at $5,000.
