THE Department of Public Safety is investigating the death of a 20-year-old woman whose body was found on the shoulder of a road north of the former Kan Pacific swimming pool in Marpi at around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

DPS did not identify the victim, but multiple sources said her name was Sophia Patricia Aldan Demapan.

She was found unresponsive, without a pulse and with multiple injuries.

It was not clear if she was a hit-and-run victim, but DPS said tire marks were noticed at the scene.

Medics arrived on scene and transported the woman to the Commonwealth Health Center where Dr. Bryan Strickland pronounced her dead at 1 a.m., DPS said.

It added that the case is under further investigation and that the public should be mindful of the victim’s family during this time.

In a separate press statement, the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services stated that on July 27, at 10 p.m., it received a 911 dispatch reporting an individual without a pulse and not breathing in Marpi, north of the former Kan Pacific swimming pool.

DFEMS personnel arrived at 10:09 p.m. at the scene and found the victim who was lifeless with multiple lacerations and deformities.

The individual sustained multiple fractures with severe injuries to the head, DFEMS added.
