President’s Fund Raising: Red Cross’ main source of income

Red Cross does the President’s Fund Raising in commemoration of the Red Cross Day which is on May 8 each year.

During last year’s fund raising, Red Cross raised more than $17,000, much higher than the $10,000 it receives annually from the Olbiil Era Kelulau.

This year’s President’s fund raising will be held today in front of the Ministry of Education office from 9 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon.

“President Johnson Toribiong has sent out invitations to the community, both public and private sectors, to come and help raise funds,” said Chin. The community is invited to come and donate, she added.

On Saturday, the 13th Annual Red Cross Walkathon will also be held. Registration starts at 5:00 in the morning at the Palau National Gym.

“The walk and run event is 5km and 10km,” said Chin. The walkathon starts at 6:00 in the morning in front of the National Gymnasium. For the 5km walk, it will be from the Gym up to the Old President’s Office in Meyuns and back. The 10km walk is from the Gym to PPR and back.

Red Cross has more than 40 different prizes awaiting the winners. T-shirts will also be given to every participant.

Red Cross office is now located at the Old OEK building fronting the Police Station.
