Propst looks into $142K monthly sole-source contract with cleaning firm

REPRESENTATIVE Edwin Propst has submitted an Open Government Act request for information pertaining to a government contract with JOGO Sanitation Services for disinfecting the designated vaccination center at the multi-purpose center and the medical care and treatment site in the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. parking lot.

The request was submitted to the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management and the Governor’s Covid-19 Task Force.

In an interview on Thursday, Propst said he also submitted a separate Open Government Act request regarding other sanitizing and cleaning companies that the CNMI government has contracted for disinfecting Covid-19 vaccination and treatment sites.

A copy of an invoice dated Nov. 16, 2021 indicates that JOGO Sanitation Services charges the government $4,749.50 daily or $142,485 monthly for the disinfection of the multi-purpose center in Susupe, and $752 daily or $22,560 monthly for the disinfection of the MCAT testing tent in the CHCC parking lot.

The invoice is addressed to HSEM and the Covid-19 Task Force.

The total amount JOGO Sanitation is charging the government for Invoice No. JOSS 2021-007 dated Nov. 16, 2021 is $165,045. The invoice indicates that there is “amount due” of $66,018, which results in “remaining balance” of $99,027.

Asked for comment, JOGO owner Jesse Ogo and HSEM Special Assistant Gerald Guerrero said they will provide more information about the contract.

The governor’s chief of staff, Wil Castro, said he will “inquire with the appropriate officials.”

Variety learned that Ogo is the brother of the former wife of one of the governor’s brothers.
