Refaluwasch group endorses GOP candidates

A REFALUWASCH group on Sunday endorsed the NMI Republican Party candidates in this year’s election.

“Today we are holding a gathering to show our full support for the Republican Party gubernatorial bet, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, his running mate Senate Floor Leader Vinnie Sablan, and the other GOP candidates,” said John Tagabuel, the spokesperson for the Refaluwasch group which held a rally at the Tronkon Da’ok grounds in Susupe.

“To continue on with our journey to success, we want to reach out to our CNMI community — please vote GOP,” Tagabuel added.

Sablan expressed his appreciation to the Refaluwasch group for its support.

“It is a good turnout,” he added. “It’s a testament to the support that we are going to get this coming November election. For everybody, the Refaluwasch community, and the entire community in the CNMI, I want to say thank you. We have more than three months away [before the election], and we want to ask again for the trust and confidence of our people —  give us the opportunity to lead our Commonwealth. Register and come out and vote.”

Torres said the Refaluwasch community’s support is a true blessing. “I want to thank the organizers of the Refaluwasch for GOP,” he said. “The Refaluwasch community has been with us since we started this journey for reelection. On behalf of my running mate and other Republican candidates, we are very grateful and blessed to have our Refaluwasch brothers and sisters endorsing us, and for appreciating the things that we are doing for the entire Commonwealth.”

This year’s general election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 8.

Voters will elect a governor, lt. governor, congressional delegate, an attorney general, six senators, 20 House members, four mayors, 12 municipal council members and one Board of Education member each on Saipan and Tinian. Voters will also decide on whether or not to retain one associate justice and two judges.

Sept. 9 is the last day to register to vote.
