The president during his weekly press conference when asked about whether he will continue with his plans in the Senate.
The president told reporters earlier that he is ready to step down from politics but his supporters were the one who filed the nominating petition for him.He told reporters, however that he is yet to make up his mind whether he will withdraw the petition or accept it.Remengesau said that it was his supporters who circulated the petition to encourage him to run for office.He said that he is consulting his family before he make formal his declaration or decline the position.Remengesau is one of the senatorial hopefuls and there 13 sears for grabs in the Senate.Remengesau served as senator, and two terms as vice president and two terms as president.With this the president said that he will be making his endorsement after the primary elections.The primary elections is set on Sept. 23.The top two presidential candidates and their running mates will face each other in the Nov. 4 polls.
