IN compliance with the fiscal year 2021 budget law, the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. has submitted its expenditure report to the Legislature.
Section 303 of Public Law 21-35 or the Fiscal Year 2021 Appropriations Act requires expenditure authorities to submit to the presiding officers of the Legislature a fund status report on the expenditures for personnel and operations of each government entity at the end of each quarter, the payment of the public auditor’s fee for the quarter ended and, if applicable, the year-to-date totals as of the close of the reporting period.
In his unaudited report to Speaker Edmund S. Villagomez and Senate President Jude U. Hofschneider, CUC Executive Director Gary Camacho included the public utility’s expenditures from the first through the fourth quarter of FY 2021.
CUC is a non-profit autonomous government entity that raises its own revenue and is a recipient of federal grants and other federal assistance.
Of the total expenditures of CUC in FY 2021, $52.9 million went to operational expenses while $13.6 million was allotted for personnel.
For the first quarter of FY 2021, CUC spent $12,066,077 for operations and $4 million for personnel; for the second quarter, $10.7 million for operations and $3.3 million for personnel; for the third quarter, $18.5 million for operations and $3.9 for personnel; and for the fourth quarter, $11.4 million for operations and $2.2 million for personnel.
