Rota Health Center’s laboratory granted CMS certificate of compliance

(Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.) — On Dec. 13 and 14, 2022, Rota Health Center had its first ever Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services inspection. The inspector found no deficiencies and issued a CMS certificate of compliance. This is a significant accomplishment for RHC. The CMS certificate of compliance ensures the quality of testing in the laboratory.

With CHCC’s goal of expanding laboratory testing capabilities in coordination with the Epidemiology & Laboratory Capacity Program, RHC received additional laboratory testing instruments that prompted the need to shift from a CLIA-waived certificate to a certificate of compliance.  The RHC is now capable of performing additional onsite laboratory testing with immediate results, which benefits medical providers and patients seen at RHC’s Outpatient Clinic and ER.

RHC would like to thank everyone who helped with this including CHCC CEO Esther L. Muna, Chief of Clinics Halina Palacios, RHC Resident Director Vanessa Quitugua, RHC lab staff Orly Soria and Patricia Ogo, CHC Lab Director Dr. Philip Dauterman CHC Lab Manager Jason Pangelinan, ELC Coordinator/Manager Portia Tomokane, and Chief of Ancillary Services Jesse Tudela.
