








Governor Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Governor David M. Apatang traveled to Rota on Saturday to meet with Mayor Aubry M. Hocog and other Rota leaders to discuss Super Typhoon Mawar response and recovery efforts that are ongoing in Rota. The coordination of the CNMI’s response to Super Typhoon Mawar is led by CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management Special Assistant Franklin R. Babauta. Governor Palacios and Lt. Governor Apatang were joined by Sen. Paul Manglona, Senate Vice President Donald Manglona, Rep. Julie Ogo, Rota Municipal Council Chairman Jim Michael Atalig and Municipal Council Secretary Jonovan Lizama, leadership team and resident directors from Rota, CNMI Public Assistance Office, representatives from the American Red Cross, the Public School System, and other agencies. Governor Palacios and Lt. Governor Apatang also visited the Rota Health Center, whose power has been restored. They also stopped by Sasanhaya Bay where they site inspected the Mobil fuel pipeline. They likewise visited the Tatachok landfill and met with Commonwealth Utilities Corp. leadership and crew. Governor Palacios and Lt. Governor Apatang were accompanied by a team who were performing assessments on the impacts of Mawar on Rota.
