Rotary completes renovation of Ngchesar Elem. Sch. library

The Rotarians started the library’s renovation project on May 20 this year, putting on some fresh and cheerful paints on the library’s wall and ordering new bookshelves and carpets.

From a simple white room with books, the library was transformed into an airy and sunny place full of children’s books that students would actually want to spend time in. Adding a “children friendly” ambiance to the library were the colorful Mickey Mouse carpets.

When the new bookshelves arrived this month, they were immediately stocked with new books.

Catherine Babiar, a Canadian friend by the Rotary Club of Palau who collects children’s books donations from her hometown library in Ontario, donated additional boxes of books to the newly renovated library.

Last Saturday, former Rotary President Thomas Schubert, Rotary President Richard Ziegler and Father James Gould went back to Ngchesar Elementary School to turn over the remaining tables and additional books to the library.

“The new look of the library makes the library a fun place to spend time in for all elementary students,” Schubert said.

Schubert added that the project was completed with financial assistance from the Rotary Club of Utsunomia 90 Japan. “With the dedicated work of Rotarians of Palau, another literacy project was successfully concluded,” he said.

Bill Recheluul, Principal of Ngchesar Elementary School, thanked Schubert and Ziegler for the “Rotarian’s great gift to Ngchersar Elementary School.”
