On March 14, 2023, in line with its primary service cause, which is protecting and taking care of the environment, the Saipan Beacon Lions Club donated eight trash bins to Francisco Mendiola Sablan Middle School in San Antonio, Saipan. These recycled drums were donated by generous businesses and were prepped and painted by the club members with the help of other volunteers. In providing these trash bins, the club aims to encourage students to help take care of the environment with a simple act of disposing of their trash properly, not only in the school premises but wherever they are. SBLC President Lion Marcelo Masilungan and seven other club members presented the trash bins to FMS Principal Cherlyn Osung who expressed her appreciation for the generosity and thoughtfulness of the club. “Thank you — this is a huge help to maintain our clean campus,” she said.
