THE Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation is expected to confirm today, Tuesday, the appointment of former NMI Museum Executive Director Danny I. Aquino and the reappointments of Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance Chairman Oscar Babauta and Vice-chairman Juan K. Tenorio.
Chaired by Sen. Edith Deleon Guerrero, the SNILD’s Judiciary and Governmental Operations Committee unanimously adopted the committee reports endorsing all the appointments.
The delegation will act on the committee reports in its session at 10:30 a.m.
During a public hearing last month, the committee received 10 oral testimonies and three written testimonies, all in support of Aquino’s appointment as the third member of the Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council.
Likewise, several oral and written testimonies were submitted to the committee in support of the reappointments of Babauta and Tenorio to the SHEFA board.
The committee said it examined all the pertinent documents related to the appointment of Aquino. Based on overall assessment of his credentials, experiences, testimonies, goals for the council, and other relevant issues considered, the committee said it is convinced that Aquino has the qualification and leadership skills necessary to serve as a member of the 16th Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council.
As to the reappointments of Babauta and Tenorio, the committee said all the required documents have been submitted, and based on those, it concludes that the reappointments are in accordance with the law and therefore recommends their confirmation.
