THE Saipan Mayor’s Office operations team on Thursday removed typhoon debris and potential hazards from the island’s secondary roads.
The debris included fallen banana trees, plastics, tree branches and trash that was scattered by Typhoon Mawar’s strong winds.
“My staff started cleaning up early in the morning,” Saipan Mayor Ramon “RB” Camacho said in an interview. “We want to make sure that the roads, most specially the secondary roads, are cleared of debris and safe for motorists.”
He said there were two big trees that fell down on a road in Chalan Kiya, and it took time to remove them due to the rain and the strong winds.
“Our team proactively did what should be done to clear the road,” Camacho said.
He reiterated that his operations team is dedicated to cleaning up roads whether there is a typhoon or not.
“Everyday is cleanup day for us,” Camacho added.
