Salii was earlier confirmed by the Senate in a unanimous vote.
The Senate agreed with Toribiong that Salii is fit for the job because he is a well established attorney with an extensive experience in practicing law in Palau and overseas.The European Commission and the Council of Europeans have both given their support to the appointment of Salii as Palau’s first Head of Mission to the European Communities.The president urged the Senate to confirm Salii’s nomination after the EU accepted his appointment. Palau has a close working relationship with the EU and had received financial aid from it in the past.
