The Senate said that Salii is fit for the job because he is a well established attorney with an extensive experience in practicing law in Palau and abroad.
Earlier, European Commission and the Council of Europeans have given their agreement to the appointment of lawyer Carlos Salii as first Head of Mission of Palau to the European Communities.The president urged the Senate to confirm the nomination of Salii after the EU accepted his appointment.“With this clearance, the way now is clear for the Senate to move forward with its advice and consent of my nomination,” Toribiong said.He added in his letter to Senate President Mlib Tmetuchl that Palau has a close working relationship with EU and Palau has in the past been recipient of assistance.
