SENATOR Edith Deleon Guerrero on Friday donated a horseshoe table and wobble chairs to Kagman Elementary School.
The school’s acting principal, Pete Arriola, thanked the senator, saying, “It’s always moving and heartening to see leaders or any community members that give thought or put time into our education system as it means they prioritize our future — and our children.”
He added, “I want to thank Senator Edith Deleon Guerrero for her thoughtfulness to our students and her generous donation of classroom furniture that will aid our teachers in providing continuous, effective instruction to the students we serve. On behalf of the Blue Marlins Family, thank you again, Senator Edith!”
Special education teacher Del Peredo said the senator’s donations are ideal for the school’s special education program.
The horseshoe table will allow the teacher to work closely with the students, he said.
As for the wobble chairs, he said they allow students to wiggle and wobble without tipping over while promoting a positive posture.
Deleon Guerrero said all the schools in the Commonwealth need something. The money she used to purchase the school furniture comes from the leftover funds for her office operations.
“And I figured, let me give something back to the schools. I have no more use for these end-of-the-fiscal-year funds in my office. The fiscal year was ending already so I could spend the money to buy something for the schools,” Deleon Guerrero said.
“I think anything that is good for the students, for the kids to make use of, if it’s going to help the teachers give more proper instructions to the kids, I think it is all for the best, it’s a great investment,” she added.
Two weeks ago, Deleon Guerrero donated school supplies to Hopwood Middle School.
