The proposed measure will review proposals on casino gaming and provide for a referendum on the casinos report at the Senate has been deferred.
House Bill 8 -69-5 calls for the establishment of the commission which will receive proposals from investors who wishes to engage in casino gaming in Palau. The bill was passed on third and final reading by the House.
The bill was supposed to be up for third and final reading during the special session of the Senate last week but action was deferred.
The measure is expected to be under debate on the floor.
According to the measure, one of the functions of the commission will be to internationally solicit proposals qualified firms and investors who wish to engage in casino gaming operations in Palau.
From the proposal, the commission will be selecting and from the selection questions will be prepared to be placed on a referendum to ask voters if they choose to reject or accept the proposal.
The members of the commission will be composed of 10 people.
The measure authored by Del. Jerry Nabeyama revives the casino gaming issue in the country.
Earlier President Johnson Toribiong has vetoed a casino bill, describing it as a get-rich-quick scheme that will not benefit Palau.
