THE Senate Committee on Executive Appointments and Government Investigations will hold a public hearing tomorrow, Tuesday, to discuss the nomination of Kina B. Peter as the new CNMI public auditor.

A representative from the Office of the Governor, a representative from the Office of the Attorney General, Secretary of Finance David DLG Atalig, and Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang have been requested to be present for the public hearing to provide comment.
All private citizens are also welcome to be present for the hearing as well and to give testimony.
If confirmed, Peter would be the first female to serve as CNMI public auditor.
She currently serves as acting public auditor until she is confirmed by both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
The former public auditor, Michael Pai, has already served two six-year terms.
No person may serve as public auditor for more than two consecutive terms.
Peter is a certified public accountant and has over two decades of accounting experience serving as a senior auditor in the CNMI and Seattle, Washington state with Deloitte, a Big Four audit firm.
As a senior auditor, she led and supervised audit engagement teams, helped develop audit staff skills required for successful completion of audit assignments, managed audit engagements for various public and private companies in the Seattle area, and successfully executed audit engagements for government agencies, trust funds, non-profit organizations, and private companies across Micronesia.
She most recently worked for the Boeing Company — a multibillion-dollar Fortune 500 company and one of the largest aerospace manufacturers in the world — as senior finance leader, senior accountant, senior manager, and accounting manager.
At Boeing, she led in the building of viable financial business plans, initiated financial accounting and reporting processes. She also led the Hong Kong Regional Finance center international team across multiple Asia-Pacific locations, managed over 20 Boeing subsidiaries, and also led multiple teams in Washington, Hong Kong, and San Diego.
Peter graduated from the University of Portland in Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting and is a Washington-licensed CPA.
