Shell observes Worldwide Safety Day

Shell’s management and staff has ensured that the employees and the community especially the ones dealing with Shell’s business everyday was doing the right thing and was exercising safe policy whether at their work place or at home.

Frank Kyota, Palau Area Manager, said that in line with this year’s theme “Doing the Right Thing” every employee must ensure that nothing wrong will occur while doing their jobs.The employees were reminded to exercise safety measures in dealing with costumers and contractors to ensure that no fatalities or injuries will occur during the operation.“The goal is zero fatality and zero injuries and this is applicable to all especially to all drivers or motorists and boat operators. Do the right thing,” Kyota said.Palau Shell and the other Shell companies worldwide have been observing this Safety Day every 8th of July for three years now.Kyota said last year’s theme was “Small things, Big Difference.”Kyota said as part of their Safety Day celebration, the management will give an award to employee who can exercise the best safety policy while doing his or her job.He said interview and selection process will start immediately and in six months, results will be announced.Among the employees who have been working with Shell for so long and who have been good role models to other employees are Kazol Shak and Mukhter Hossain.Shak has been with Shell for 13 years now while Hossain has been employed with the company for 10 years now.Shak and Hossain take pride in their work saying they never commit a mistake while doing their jobs.Kyota reminded the two to keep up the good work and to continue being role models to their co-workers.He reminded the other employees to learn from Shak and Hossain and to always work as a team.
