Sonsorol defeated Ngardmau by 11 points with scores of 66-55 in the male division.Ngardmau outscored Sonsorol in the first quarter with 19-14 but Sonsorol managed to hit back in the second quarter with 22-12 scores and enjoyed a lead of 3 points in the third quarter with scores of 16-13.Sonsorol did not give Ngardmau the chance to score back and closed the game with a three point’s lead in the fourth quarter with 14-11.Sonsorol’s top player Masau scored 21 while co-player Joe scored 17.Ngardmau’s top player was Jerome who scored 15.Meanwhile in the female division, Peleliu defeated Aimeliik by six points when they scored 50 over Aimeliik’s 44.Peleliu’s Tara and Sweety outscored Aimeliik with respective outputs of 16 and 15.The Belau National Youth Games formally opened on Monday afternoon at the Palau National Gymnasium with only seven states participating out of 17 states.Participating States are Aimeliik, Ngardmau, Peleliu, Angaur, Ngiwal, Ngeremlengui, and Sonsorol.
