TINIAN — On Oct. 4, 2021, clouds hovered over Tinian High School, completely covering the sun’s rays. As the cold rain started pouring in followed by gusts of wind, the cadets stood firm and in attention to begin the Change of Command Ceremony. The rain continued to pour across the entire school showing no signs of clearing, but the battalion continued to stand in position of attention for the rest of the event.
Despite the weather conditions, the motivation and dedication demonstrated was a sentimental moment for our battalion. It was truly an honorable way to start the ceremony.
Senior Army Instructor CPT Joseph Santos and Army Instructor 1SG Jose King continued to support and guide the cadets throughout the event with words of encouragement, despite additional technical difficulties that arose.
The incoming Battalion Commander (C/LTC Long, Cielo) also recognized the battalion’s effort and offered additional support and encouragement giving hope to the cadets.
Overall, the Stallion Battalion worked hard and cohesively with the new battalion leaders.
The plans for the Stallion Battalion are bright, and we can’t wait to see what the new chain of command has to offer.
Congratulations to the new company leaders, staff, and the battalion command consisting of the command sergeant major, executive officer, and the battalion commander.
In his remarks, Senior Army Instructor Cpt. Joseph Santos reminded the new leadership: “You all have earned your positions, but now you have to maintain and take charge of your roles. There is no doubt that you will do the best that you can, but always remember where you started from and never forget it. Stick to your promises, now is your time to show your leadership.”
In light of current events in our community and in the world, we need to remember how precious life is. As so eloquently stated by an unknown author), “Life is too short. Grudges are a waste of perfect happiness. Laugh when you can. Apologize when you should and let go of what you can. Take chances. Give everything and have no regrets. Life is too short to be unhappy. You have to take the good with the bad. Smile when you’re sad. Love what you got and always remember what you had. Always forgive and never forget. Learn from your mistakes, but never regret. People change and things go wrong, but always remember life goes on.”
