STAR Marianas Air Inc. will resume its daily flights between Rota and Guam on Jan. 1, 2022.
Earlier this week, SMA suspended all its flights until further notice, “due to the risks presented by an unhealthy flight environment.”
The announcement prompted Tinian and Rota passengers to seek refunds from Star Marianas while Rota lawmakers sought a meeting with SMA owner Shaun Christian.
In separate letters on Tuesday, Star Marianas general manager Jose Cruz informed Covid-19 Task Force Chairman Warren Villagomez and Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. Chief Executive Officer Esther Muna that SMA “intends to resume daily scheduled passenger flight services between Rota and Guam starting Jan. 1, 2022.” The departure time from Rota to Guam is noon while the departure time from Guam to Rota is 1 p.m.
Cruz also told Villagomez and Muna that Star Marianas is seeking assistance “to ensure we provide our passengers with complete information regarding CNMI entry requirements and to ensure there is coordination with the appropriate individuals on Rota.”
Star Marianas “looks forward” to working with the task force and CHCC, and hoping for their’ cooperation “as we work to return to normal operations.”
