‘Stay positive, be humble, be honest’

(Office of the Lt. Governor) —  John Paul  “JP”  Lizama  of Koblerville was  named  2022 Lieutenant Governor’s Office Employee of the Year for his dedication  as a Building Maintenance Specialist at the Governor Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.

Lizama  was presented an award by Lt. Governor Arnold I. Palacios, who said that the CNMI’s continued  success is rooted in the diligence of people like Lizama and his coworkers.

“Our government  employees are the backbone of our community. The hard work and dedication of government employees like JP will guarantee the strength of our great Commonwealth for years to come,” Palacios said.

A graduate of Saipan Southern High School, Lizama began as a field worker in 2019 and was promoted to his current role at the multi-purpose center in April 2021 where he spent the past year maintaining the interior and exterior of the facility.

Lizama  said he was  honored  by the recognition  and credited  the support  from family and coworkers for his award.

“It means a lot. Without my coworkers and my family, this would not be possible. Bego Camacho, Dan Lisua, Memorino Elisar; we work as a team and never leave anyone out,” Lizama said.

Lizama  said he was surprised when he learned he was selected for the award  and shared the following advice to public and private sector employees across the CNMI.

“Stay positive, be humble, be honest, learn from your mistakes and be willing to take advice from people who have come before you,” Lizama said.
