Store robbers make off with cartons of cigarettes

TWO masked men forced their way into the cashier’s area of New Stop Store in Dandan on Friday morning, but failed to open the cash register, which was locked, the store owner’s daughter told Variety.

She said the robbers then pushed her 63-year-old father to the floor, and searched around the counter.

“When they found no cash, they took four to five cartons of cigarettes,” she added.

She said when her father tried to get up, he was kicked by one of the robbers. “They did not have any weapons,” she added.

She said her father saw the robbers get in a car, which was then driven toward Kannat Tabla.

When they heard the commotion, the store owners’ family members who live behind the store called the police.

“Police came immediately,” the store owner’s daughter said.

As of press time Sunday, the Department of Public Safety had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
