Haruo went on to explain that he is convinced that Surangel & Billy will put the needs of the Palauan people first. “I’ve heard their commitments and know of their past actions and they’ve been consistent in showing their genuine concern and sincere efforts in ensuring the future of the Palauan people and Palau.” The campaign committee and supporters worked hard in helping Surangel & Billy to hear and deal with the concerns of the Palauan people and to come up with other specific plans to address those issues.He further mentioned that they wanted to avoid confusing or manipulating voters given the sometimes “rumor-ridden” and other aspects of campaign season. He indicated that they’ve worked to stay away from “scare” and “blame” tactics and “gloom & doom” forecasts.Haruo added, “We’ve worked to run an honest and clean campaign. We wanted voters to know the truth about our plans and commitments and not to waste time with false hopes and empty promises. We’ve made sure that what they’ve said is consistent with what they can and will do. We’ve also run our campaign in a financially responsible way, focusing on the grass-roots style of campaigning.”He said that they chose a humble and responsible approach in reaching out to voters.” In closing he said that, “I don’t believe that advertisements and speeches are reliable indicators of a person’s true character. A person’s actions, decisions, and plans with substance are better indicators.”He invited voters to join them this Sunday, 9/21, at the People’s headquarters in Malakal, from 2pm-6pm, for a get-together before the Tuesday Primary Election.
