HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A man was accused of damaging another man’s car with a machete and throwing rocks at him.
On Tuesday, officers with the Guam Police Department responded to a criminal mischief complaint at YJ Market in Yigo, where they met with a man who guided officers to his residence. Upon arriving, officers saw Pedro Nena “quickly running out of the residence with unknown objects in both hands,” according to a magistrate’s complaint filed Wednesday in the Superior Court of Guam.
Nena, 25, then “aggressively rushed toward” the man as he was exiting his vehicle. The man then got out of his car and hid behind the vehicle to avoid being hit by objects allegedly thrown by Nena. Officers witnessed the victim being hit by objects, according to the complaint.
According to the complaint, officers instructed Nena to “stop” and to “get on the floor” but Nena ignored them. Nena then threw what appeared to be a rock toward the victim, which almost hit the victim’s head.
While at the scene, police met with Nena’s mother, who reported he arrived and was upset at his sister and that he wanted to “get a knife so he could go back to her residence and destroy her vehicle,” the complaint stated.
Nena’s mother tried to convince Nena not to damage his sister’s car. However, she believed it made Nena more upset. She said Nena then grabbed his machete and proceeded to damage a white truck which belonged to the victim.
According to the complaint, officers saw the windshield of the vehicle was bashed in, both tail lights and side mirrors were shattered and the driver’s side door had dents outward as if it were pried out.
Nena was charged with criminal mischief to a motor vehicle as a third-degree felony and family violence as a misdemeanor.
The Sgt. Frankie E. Smith police station is seen Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, in Tumon.
