In a letter to Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou, Toribiong said that it is ready to stand behind Taiwan in advancing the national interests and policies at the international, multilateral, regional or bilateral levels.
Toribiong was recently in Taiwan for a state visit.In the same letter, Toribiong thanked the president for the assistance and support provided to Palau.“We shall cherish and continue to foster and further enhance our bilateral friendship based upon mutual respect and cooperation and our shared values of democracy, freedom and justice,’ Toribiong said.Earlier Toribiong extended an invitation to Taiwan President Ma to visit Palau.Toribiong told reporters that during his state visit to Taiwan recently he has invited Ma to come to Palau.Toribiong said Ma has assured him that Taiwan will continue to support Palau economically. The president’s arrival marked Taiwan’s first visit from a head of state this year to Taiwan.
