According to EQPB Executive Officer Portia Franz, the PITI-registered vessel has also requested to amend the scope of work under its permit, PEA-167-10, to chop, recycle, dispose of the grounded vessel.
Franz said the EQPB has approved this request.
This PITI fishing vessel ran aground on August 16, 2010 which the Board issued an order to pay a $5,000 fine and remove the vessel within fifteen days or before October 6.
Franz said the PITI has not paid nor removed the grounded vessel from Uchelbeluu Reef.
The first attempt to remove the vessel was unsuccessful on Aug. 25 and on Aug. 30, EQPB was notified that Francis Toribiong will help the vessel be removed from the reef.
The boat has scraped the reef but EQPB said the fuel inside the boat has been removed.
