The masters and open division teams from the states of Kayangel, Ngarchelong, Melekeok, and Ngchesar battled in what appeared to be the best games of this season.
Dallas Oketol, Vito Abraham, and Israel Abraham gave Melekeok fans something to cheer about as they each hammered more than a couple of homeruns out of the ball park during an open division game against Ngarchelong’s Blue Sharks. Brandon Shiro of the Blue Sharks, on the other hand, despite his homerun and his teammates gallant effort, fell short of a win.
Governor Edwin Chiokai of the Kayangel Masters could not get his team to defeat Ngchesar Masters; however, his state’s open division team peppered Ngchesar’s own with hits and swift base running; and easily won – as did Ngarchelong’s masters against the Melekeok Older Salty Boys.
Members of the Ongiall Assocaition – the main organizers of the league – were all smiles and officiated the games.
“It is the greatest split ever,” the fans exclaimed.
Each of the participating states in last Sunday’s games left with a win and a loss. No one left unhappy.
Men and women of goodwill were at the ballpark, and good unified fun, despite a split, was all that mattered.
