Tinian mayor’s wellness campaign sponsors ‘biggest loser competition’

“As mayor of Tinian, I have decided to talk less and do more when it comes to these national killers. Recently, I signed a proclamation marking the beginning of ‘Mayor’s Wellness Campaign.’ The campaign is committed in educating and supporting the residents of Tinian make vitalistic choices and turn their health genes to promote health, wellness and vitality. This campaign seeks to foster active living and healthier lifestyles.”

According to the mayor, “Our goal is to increase opportunities for our residents to participate in physical activities with a long term goal of improving health, reducing deaths and the health care costs secondary to obesity. Through public-private partnerships, the campaign will provide structure and resources for healthy community initiatives.”

He added, “I am encouraging everyone to play a leadership role in supporting local opportunities for active, healthy lifestyles. I have taken them up on that challenge.”

On Feb. 11, the wellness campaign is sponsoring a 12-week weight lose competition. Over $2,000 worth of prizes will be awarded to the individual with biggest percentage weight lose after the 12 week competition. Prizes will be awarded to the female biggest loser, male biggest loser and group/department/organization biggest loser.
