TINIAN — Preparations for the 2021 Tinian San Jose Fiesta are underway to mark the 65th anniversary of celebrating the island’s patron saint, San Jose the Worker.
Mayor Edwin P. Aldan and the rest of the Tinian leadership welcome to partake in this fun-filled three-day weekend event from Friday, April 30 to Sunday, May 1 at the Tinian Fiesta Grounds.
Escape to Tinian for the weekend as Star Marianas Air, Inc. will be extending its flight schedules beginning Friday, April 30 to Monday, May 2. Each night during this promotional period there will be flights from Saipan to Tinian from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and flights from Tinian to Saipan will operate from 8:30 a.m. until 9 p.m.
The areas along Tinian’s beautiful coastline nearest the Fiesta Grounds, including Jones Beach, Taga Beach, and Tachogna Beach, will be available to visitors for camping. Reservations to use any of the pavilions during the Fiesta weekend should be made via email at frontofficemot@gmail.com in advance.
Traditional cuisine
Taste the flavor of Tinian as 10 of the island’s best local vendors dish out traditional cuisine and unique street food. Serving up the best of island barbecue will be Chana’s Kitchen, Chill & Grill, Queen’s Restobar and Bento Box. Got a sweet tooth? Check out Sweeties Corner for an assortment of desserts and a wide variety of shave ice — perfect on a hot day! Mix and match your toppings and make sure to ask for extra cheese at Khan’s Pizza House. Expand your palate when choosing a menu from JC Café, Conte’s Corner, or Shirley’s Food Court. The Ohala Foundation is set to serve delicious snack items and sell raffle tickets.
Activities galore
Experience the island’s first-ever paddle board competition live at Jones Beach, where individuals go head-to-head to demonstrate strength and agility.
Hop on your boat and compete in the annual San Jose Fiesta Fishing Derby.
Help judges decide who wins this year’s booth-Island theme competition.
Finally, experience the first-ever “Chiba Cooking Competition.” Tinian’s best chefs will face-o trying to “wow” the judges with their special recipes using fresh goat meat from Aguiguan Island.

Accessorize with Tinian’s very own Pacific Supply and Biton’s Boutique as they showcase new threads, and be sure to grab a toy or souvenir from Chelu Alynez. RB5 and Grands are opening its doors to all gamers with darts and video games.
Dance the night away with Island Vibe Entertainment live on stage this Fiesta weekend, as well as throwback singles from Bobbie Degracia and the Gigolo Cover Band.
Safety first
Mayor Edwin P. Aldan and the Covid-19 Task Force chairman, Warren Villagomez, would like to remind all patrons that Covid guidelines will be in effect throughout the three-day weekend event.
For your safety and for the safety of those around you, wear a face mask, maintain appropriate social distance from others, and practice constant hygiene when strolling through the Fiesta Grounds.
“The San Jose Fiesta is an event for everyone and an opportunity to see what Tinian has to offer — sights, sounds, food, and most of all, our hospitality,” Mayor Aldan said.

The San Jose Parish Council invites the public to attend festivities at the church in celebration of the Fiesta weekend for Saturday, May 1.
The Novenan San Jose will be held at the Social Hall at 3:15 p.m. and the Reverend Bishop Ryan Jimenez will lead the Misan San Jose at 4 p.m. followed by the Caravan Procession for San Jose to the Tinian Fiesta Grounds and back to the Social Hall for the dinner banquet.
